Why is this book free?

My friends, since the declassification of the secret British Government communiques pertaining to the Qajar and Pahlavi dynasties in the last two decades, several great scholars have quoted them either pro or against Reza Shah.
These documents have been translated in books and articles in Persian based on the authors’ linguistic knowledge and bias.  Heeding the expression “a picture is worth a thousand words,” I decided to put pictures of the real documents in front of you to see it for yourselves and come up with your own conclusion as knowledge of the past can be utilized a beacon of light in the dark night of the future. To obtain these documents I had to hire, at a considerable personal cost, a researcher with a PhD degree who was approved by the U.K. National Archives for accessing and taking pictures of them.
Upon studying the documents and conducting a thorough research, which took a few years, the U.K. National Archives would require several thousand dollars for Copy Rights, if I were to use about 100 documents in a high-volume publication!  Having failed to reach a reasonable agreement with them, I finally decided that the only way to avoid that hefty monetary liability was to forego the time and money spent on research and writing the book and offer it on the internet for free!  Having the website developed and maintaining it for the future means another expenditure that I will gladly finance.  I consider the exhilarating thought that by making the book available for free might encourage millions of Iranian youth to read it by and in itself the biggest reward for me.
At the same time, I intend to publish under two hundred copies (per U. K. National Archives requirement) both Persian and English versions in one volume and make them available for those who might want to obtain a copy by making a donation.  Unfortunately, due to U.S. sanctions against the Islamic Republic, I would not be able to accept any donations from Iran, but would be happy to mail the book to those who donate outside of Iran.   Please click here for requesting a copy.
